EAST LIVERPOOL - City resident Carol Ann Cornell passed away suddenly at her home on Watson Street in East Liverpool at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. She was 65.
Born in Rochester, Pa., on Sept. 3, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Leo J. and Dorothy Fairweather Thorne. She had moved to the East Liverpool area in the fifth grade and had remained here ever since.
A devoted mother and homemaker, Carol loved playing family Bingo, and was always up for a good yard sale or an antique hunt.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Phil Smith, and by her second husband, Bill Cornell.
Surviving is a daughter, Sherry R. Smith Reynolds, of East Liverpool, and a son, Josh Cornell, of Wellsville. Carol also leaves behind three grandchildren: Kristen Pacola and her husband, Edward, of Lisbon; David Reynolds of Sumter, S.C.; and Phillip Smith of East Liverpool; along with two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Evan Pacola.
Carol's companion, Bill Stansbury, also survives as well as her five sisters: Sandra Adkins of East Liverpool; Katheryn Hutchison and her husband, Kenny, of Dunedin, Fla.; Sally Salter and her husband, Richard, of Irvine, Calif.; Donna Newlun of East Liverpool; and Louella Thorne of East Liverpool. Two brothers also survive: John Thorne and his wife, Terry, of Tampa, Fla.; and James Thorne and his wife, Carolyn, of Wellsville.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Mowad, and by two brothers, Jerry Thorne and Jeffrey A. Thorne.

Private family services will be held at a later date. The Dawson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
