EL Area Seniors
EAST LIVERPOOL - On March 14th, a meeting of The East Liverpool Area Seniors was held with 23 members attending. In the absence of our president June Mullen, Trustee Margaret Brown presided. Brown called the meeting to order by calling on JoAnn Fickes for a scripture reading. The usual opening followed with "The Lord's Prayer, pledge to the flag and 2 verses of "America".
A roll call of officers and the minutes of the March 7th meeting were read by Secretary JoAnn Fickes. First Vice President Jean Tomlison read the weekly Treasurers report, and advised 4 new bills were submitted and acted on.
A donation of Club funds was sent to the "Fish Organization" for this month as it is on the second meeting of every month. This week Shirley Hayes and Beverly Bolton are on the ill list. Get well wishes and prayers are being sent their way.
Club Supervisor Mary Lou Archaragi has been busy making up cards to display at local stores to remind all seniors of the first card party of the year for anyone 55 or older. We also need more bingo players. The games will be held the 2nd monday of the month till Oct. Small entrance fee will be charged. Today a small St. Patrick's Day party was held with members all wearing green. First prize, Harriet Slagle, most unusual; Ruth Wynn wearing the most green, and prettiest Archaragi. Club Supervisor Archaragi also advised next week to bring sack lunches, and the next week March 28th will be our Easter Dinner.
A beautiful bouquet of deep rose carnations was won by Archaragi, and the lucky recipient of the 50/50 was Fickes.
Funny stories were told by Fickes, Wynn, and Ralph Samberson. Next meeting will be March 21st. Motions to close was made by Ralph Samberson and Thelma Hupp. The meeting closed with "The Evening Prayer", and the closing prayer was made by Fickes. The meeting adjourned, and pizza and games followed.
