In Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday a March 18 preliminary hearing was set for Daniel S. Bussard, 35, West Main Street, Washingtonville, charged with domestic violence. According to court documents, Bussard attempted to harm his wife, leaving lumps on her forehead, a lump above her left ear and a bite mark on her arm. Additionally, he allegedly had a broken hand and marks on his neck from striking his wife on Saturday.
Jerry Metze, 65, Park Avenue, New Waterford, pleaded no contest to attempted sexual imposition. Sentencing is set for April 1. According to court documents, on Friday Metze attempted to engage in sexual activity with a woman, pinning her arms back by her wrists, kissing her on the face and neck, attempting to get her to touch parts of his body, grabbing her again after she got away and sliding his hand up the back of her shirt.
Stephen T. Vishak, 19, last known address Columbia Street, Salem, pleaded no contest to assault and violating a temporary protection order for knocking a boy to the ground and punching him several times on Jan. 26. At the time of the assault, the boy was there with a girl, who Vishak has been ordered to stay away from. Sentencing is set for March 26.
Larry G. Evans, 42, Lisbon Canfield Road, Leetonia, was fined $1,030, had his license suspended for three years and was sentenced to 180 days starting immediately for failure to comply and a seat belt violation. Court documents state Evans fled from a highway patrol trooper onto Mattix Road and Steubenville Pike Road before pulling into a private driveway and running into a wooded area on Nov. 5.
Additionally a March 28 pretrial was set for Evans, who is also charged with driving under FRA suspension, falsification, carrying a concealed weapon and disobeying a police order. Evans is accused of giving Washingtonville police a false name and social security number to avoid a warrant in 2005, running from East Palestine police in 2005 and leaving a knife in his car at that time.
Steven D. Adams, 51, East State Street, Salem, was fined $925, sentenced to three days in jail, had his license suspended for six months and required 30 hours community service for OVI first offense and speeding.
David L. Spencer Jr., 26 Kibler Road, New Waterford, was fined $750, sentenced to three days in jail, had his license suspended for six months for OVI first offense and traffic control devices citation.
Gabriel Jacobs, 21, Washington School Road, New Cumberland, W.Va., was fined $735, had his license suspended for 180 days and sentenced to 20 days in jail for OVI first offense, seat belt violation and failure to control.
Michael J. Perline, 37, Cortland, was fined $705, sentenced to 20 days in jail and had his license suspended for 180 days for OVI first offense and failure to control.
Joseph R. Kee, 24, Gilson Road, Salem, was fined $700, had his license suspended for 180 days, sentenced to 20 days in jail and required 50 hours community service for OVI first offense and traffic control devices.
Daniel L. Benton, 37, East Lincoln Way, Lisbon, was fined $400 and required 30 hours community service for assault amended from domestic violence and no license amended from driving under suspension. Benton was accused of pushing his wife onto the bed and punching her three or four times.
Eric D. White, 19, Winona Road, Salem, was fined $400 and required 40 hours community service for underage consumption.
Michael E. Neeld, 25, West Main Street, New Waterford, was fined $200, sentenced to 34 remaining days in jail and required 60 hours community service for theft and failure to yield. According to court documents, Neeld entered the site of a cell phone tower and cut copper ground wires from the location before selling them to a scrap yard in Youngstown.
