LISBON - The Beaver Local Student Council is holding a blood drive for the American Red Cross 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Walk-ins welcome. Call 1-800-RED CROSS or the High School at 330-386-8700 to schedule an appointment.

Beaver Local Elementary and MS students will be given an opportunity to become "Pint Sized Heroes" by having someone donate blood in their name.

If you have a son or daughter in the Beaver Local School District who is not old enough to donate, please give in their name.

Every Pint Sized Hero will be entered in a drawing for three $25 gift cards, donated by the Student Council.

NEWELL - The Newell Community Improvement Coalition, Inc. will meet 7 p.m. today, March 5 in the Wells Building.

WELLSVILLE - AAA Driver Education will be held, starting March 11th at Beaver Local High School. All area students are eligible to attend, including home schooled students. For more information call 330-532-2878.

GEORGETOWN - Frankfort Springs Grange No. 1989, 1476 state Route 18, is hosting learn to play workshops on several folk instruments, starting with Mountain Dulcimer 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 10. The cost of the workshops will be $20 each.

The Hammered Dulcimer workshop is scheduled for April 14, an Autoharp workshop is planned for May 5 and Folk Guitar is scheduled for June 2. All workshops are for the basic beginner and some instruments are available for student use. All instruction material and music will be provided.

HAMMONDSVILLE - The Edison Junior High Vocal Music Department, under the direction of Mrs. Dani Carroll, will present Dear Edwina, Jr. at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 15 in the Edison High School Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Ticket sales begin on March 11. Adult tickets are $5. Student tickets are $3. For more information, please contact Mrs. Dani Carroll at 740-765-4313.

WELLSVILLE - The Elks 1040 will have steak and chicken salads, 4:30-8 p.m. Wednesday.

EAST LIVERPOOL - Girls from the class of 1963 will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Coffee Fusion.

LISBON - The Medication Assistance Program 9:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Lisbon. Bring all prescription bottles. Help is also available for those with Medicare Part D problems.

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Post Office Retirees will meet for breakfast 9 a. m. Wednesday at Tom's Country Kitchen, Chester.

WELLSVILLE - The Wellsville Central United Methodist will be having a Soup and Salad dinner from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. The cost is a donation and will go towards our Aldersgate Family Retreat. Dine-in and carry out will be available.

EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool 1st Church of the Nazarene is now a member agency of the Second Harvest Food Pantry of Mahoning Valley. The first free food distribution will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at the church.

The food pantry will be open once a month on the second Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is located in the church basement below the sanctuary along Minerva Street. The food is available to all who come at no cost. A photo ID, proof of residency, and an application stating your general income level, family size and signature of the recipient are required. These are requirements of the Second Harvest Food Bank due to the fact that they receive food from the state of Ohio, the federal government and commercial donors.
