Charles R. “Dick” Kent, 91

EAST LIVERPOOL - Charles R. "Dick" Kent, 91, of Williams Avenue, died early Monday evening, Feb. 11, 2013, at the Weirton Geriatric Center in Weirton.

A lifetime area resident, Dick was born in East Liverpool on Dec. 17, 1921, a son of the late Fred and Helen Glynn Kent.

A 1939 graduate of East Liverpool High School, he went on to serve with the US Army in the European Theatre during WWII where he received five campaign ribbons.

Following the war, he was employed as a production manager at New Castle Refractories for more than 43 years.

Dick was a lifelong member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, a member of American Legion Post 121 in Chester and an avid Potters sports fan.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Strobel Kent, whom he married Feb. 14, 1946.

Also surviving is a sister, Dorothy H. Groubert of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a brother, Robert E. Kent of Annadale, Va.

Burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery. A memorial service will be planned at a future date.
