Harold B. “Red” Bennett, 71

NEW CUMBERLAND - Harold B. "Red" Bennett, 71, of New Cumberland, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.

A son of the late Robert and Estella Kochert Bennett, Red was born on June 22, 1941, in Chester.

A retired security guard, he had previously worked at the former TS&T Potter in Chester, the former Crucible Steel Mill, Metz's Refractories in Chester and TRW, an auto parts manufacture.

Red had previously attended the Virginia Ave. Church of Christ, and family, hunting, fishing, and camping were his passions in life.

Preceding him in death were his brothers, Bob and Joe Bennett, and sister, Edna Mae Reed, and Dorothy Roach.

His loving wife, Judy Carson Bennett, survives along with his son, Daniel Bennett and his wife, Chris of Columbus, Ga.; his daughter, Melissa Coats and her husband, Patrick of Chester; his sisters, Shirley Mumaw and husband Jack of Chester, Phyllis Kuhns and husband Denise of Hammondsville, Virginia Shroades, and Jean Logston of Chester, and Mary Holcomb of Alliance; four grandchildren, Daniel Bennett Jr., Mindy Richmond, Dedra Roach, and David W. Bailey III; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee E. Bennett, and Dylan and Madison Richmond; and his former wife, Linda Horner. Numerous nieces and nephews survive as well.

Pastor Kim Gadd of the House of Prayer will celebrate Red's life on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where family and friends will gather on Thursday from noon until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.

In lieu of flowers, it had been suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Bennett Family.
