Traffic slowed to a crawl on state Route 11 just south of Calcutta Tuesday after this tanker driven by Jan Andrei caught fire in the northbound lane. Firefighters from Liverpool Township arrived on the scene to find Andrei had used an extinguisher to put out the blaze, caused when the turbo threw oil and hydraulic fluid all over the truck, according to Chief Mike Bahen. The fire department used an absorbent material on the road to clean up the fluids that spilled from the engine. Calcutta and Glenmoor fire departments also were enroute to the scene to provide mutual aid but were called off when it was found the fire was in Liverpool Township and had been brought under control. Liverpool Township police and the highway patrol were also on the scene. (Photo by Jo Ann Bobby-Gilbert)
