EAST LIVERPOOL - Walter Earl Henthorne, 77, of East Liverpool, formerly of Newell, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.
He was born Sept. 6, 1935, in Wellsville, a son of the late Roy and Elizabeth Rockenhauser Henthorne.
Walter previously worked for Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort. He retired from the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Dept., where he served as chief; and was a member of Chester Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a former president of the Hancock County Firefighters' Association. Walter was a prior caretaker for the Chester City Park and he served as a Judge for the City of Chester.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Mary Suzzanne Reed Henthorne; two sisters, Grace DeLauder and Martha Little; and two brothers, Fred and his twin brother Wayne Henthorne, preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy (Bill) Merriman of Florida and Lisa Haddox of Newell; a son, Tim (Beth) Henthorne of Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Jocey, Casey, Bev, Matthew, Alex, Bub and Derek; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Duck of Wellsville; and a brother, Nate Henthorne of Industry.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, with a fireman funeral service at 7 p.m.
