NEW CUMBERLAND - Sidney Joe Adams,75, of New Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Life Line Hospital in Wintersville, after a nine-month illness.
He was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Chapmanville, W.Va., a son of the late Hubert and Mary (Smith) Adams. He is also preceded in death by four brothers, Wilson, Douglas, James and Lloyd Adams; one sister Marie McCloud and an infant granddaughter, Carrie Gray.
Sid previously worked as a welder for Crane Brothers Construction and Murphy Consolidated. He retired from Industry Terminals and was a Protestant by faith.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Joan (Worrell) Adams at home; three daughters, Sandra (Mike) Temple of Chester, Kimberly (Gary) Gray and Amelia (Alan) Michaelson, both of New Cumberland; three sisters, Fay Adams and Rita Cartette both of North Carolina and Jean Meade of Logan, W.Va.; one brother, Kenneth Adams of Michigan; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Faust, Tiffany Gray, Matthew Congo, Bryan Congo and Alan Michaelson; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Nolan Faust; and a special nephew Gordon McCloud of Wellsburg, W.Va.
Viewing will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Turley Funeral Home, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, with Pastor Charles Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
