Shirley William Bradfield, 91

11-13-1921 to 11-26-2012

LAKEVIEW, Ark. - Shirley William Bradfield passed away Nov. 26, 2012, 1 p.m. at his home in Lakeview, Ark. He was 91. Born Nov. 13, 1921 in New Matamoras, Ohio, he was the son of Samuel and Jennie Parr Bradfield. He married Norma Lee Wright, in Westminster, Va. on August 5, 1958.

He worked for Midland Steel in Midland, Pa. in the 1960s and moved from the Ohio valley area in the early 1970s. After he built their first home in Calcutta, Ohio, he decided to work for himself as a building contractor. They moved to Mesa, Ariz. where he built several homes, then later moved to the Arkansas area to continue his contracting business.

He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Lakeview, Ark., and a member of the Masonic Temple, East Liverpool, Ohio. He served in the Navy during WWII and was stationed on Tinian Island. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed entertaining everyone with his war stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters; Virginia Cline, Dolly Meeks, Ruby Boston, Katherine Graves, Frances Whitten, Bell Light and Cleo Trautman; and one brother Jake Bradfield.

He leaves behind his loving wife Norma; son Tommy William Bradfield (Greta), Mt. Home, Ark.; daughters Mary Elizabeth Carpenter and Jenny Lynn Bradfield; stepdaughter Dianna Wright Wiggins (Ron), Casa Grande, Ariz.

Life services were held Nov. 29, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial at Mill Creek Cemetery, Hookstown, Pa.. Cremation by Kirby Funeral Home, Bull Shoals, Ark.
