Mildred Grace Stewart, 97

EAST LIVERPOOL - Mildred Grace Stewart, of Monticello Place, passed away at the age of 97 at 7:21 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013.

Grace, who had been ill just a short time, had spent most of her life in this area. She was born in Smithfield, W.Va., on Nov. 11, 1915, and was a daughter of the late James W. and Fronia Higgins Hayhurst. She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.

She had spent most of her working life in the food service department of the East Liverpool school system, retiring in 1975. A member of Northside Community Church, Grace had also belonged to the Women's Home League of the Salvation Army, as well as the Rebecca Griscom Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Preceding her in death on March 12, 2001, was her husband, Ashby W. Stewart. A son, Ronald W. Stewart, passed away on March 8, 2009.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Pollock and her husband, Sheridan, of East Liverpool, and Patricia Stewart, also of East Liverpool; five grandchildren: Kim Pollock and his wife, Kerry, of Chester, Tracy Dawson and her husband, Russell, of East Liverpool, Stephanie Potvin and her husband, Mike, of Richmond, Va., Jill Woolmaker and her husband, Troy, of East Liverpool, and Tiffany Comerford and her husband, Richard, also of Richmond; 13 great-grandchildren: Aaron Pollock, Amy Darmstedter and her husband, Joe, Benjamin Champ, Jennifer Longo and her husband, Rocco, Julianne Dawson, Meredith Dawson, Ashleigh Woolmaker, Alyson Woolmaker Troy Woolmaker II, Troy Potvin, Chase Potvin, Sophia Comerford and Keagan Comerford; along with one great-great granddaughter, Molly Darmstedter; a sister, Betty Fenton, of Brown, W.Va., survives as well as a daughter-in-law, Constance Stewart of Richmond, Va.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, where the family will be present.

Pastor Larry Rose of the church will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial park.
