WELLSVILLE - John D. Springer, 91 of Wellsville, passed away Jan. 29, 2013, at Calcutta Health Care. He was born on Sept. 2, 1921, in Wellsville, a son of the late John Frank Springer and Nina T. (Robins) Springer.
Mr. Springer, a World War II Navy Veteran, lived the majority of his life in Wellsville and worked at various businesses throughout the area as a draftsman and engineer. He eventually retired as a self-employed artist. He was an active member of several Wellsville organizations including the Elks Lodge 1040, VFW Post 5647 and the American Legion Post 70.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn (Elliott) Springer, and his brother, William Springer. Mr. Springer is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Springer of Wellsville, and close in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes with Pastor Ken Malone of Central Methodist Church officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
