William McClelland Frischkorn

WELLSVILLE - William "Bill" McClelland Frischkorn, 88, of Wellsville, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital from complications due to surgery.

He was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Wellsville, the son of the late Adam and Jeannetta (Herbert) Frischkorn.

Bill served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. He was formerly employed as a forklift operator in the Van Port Building of the Agricultural Department, and then he was employed for twenty-one years as an air compressor repairman for Crucible Steel Mill, before retiring in 1982. He also worked in the family lumber business. Bill was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 1212, Wellsville Elks 1040, Wellsville American Legion Post 70, and East Liverpool VFW Post 66.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian (Wiley) Frischkorn, whom he married Nov. 19, 1951; two sons: William R. Frischkorn and his wife Patricia of Wellsville, and Glenn E. Frischkorn and his wife Susan of Wellsville; one grandson: Glenn Eric Frischkorn of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; one granddaughter: Heather Michelle Brock and her husband Christopher of Calcutta; one great-granddaughter: Emma Rose Brock; and one great-grandson: Christopher Thomas Brock Jr.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters: Esther Boyd and Martha Cheatwood, two brothers: Kenneth Frischkorn and Herbert Frischkorn; one granddaughter: Heidi Frischkorn; and brother-in-law and good friend: Glenn Wiley.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Roberts Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.
