Alpha Tau

NEW CUMBERLAND - The February meeting of the Alpha Tau chapter of WV Alpha Delta Kappa was held at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland.

The meeting was called to order by President, Fran Jones. The Thought for the Day was given by Chaplain, Donna Durkin.

Roll call was taken and correspondence read by Shirley Washam, Corresponding Secretary.

The minutes were distributed by Recording Secretary, Donna Bohach and approved by the group. Kathy Griffith presented the treasurer's report. Committee reports were also given.

The group participated in a wellness activity presented by Sheri Marsella, Zumba instructor.

Hostesses for the meeting were Karen Oyster, Michelle Bernardi, Michelle Turner, and Debby Churella.

Wellsville Lions Club

WELLSVILLE - The Wellsville Lions Club held their first meeting of the new year on Jan. 10, 2013 at the Wellsville Roadhouse Restaurant.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by King Lion Bob Rudder, who led the group with the "Pledge of Allegiance." Lion John Henry Martin gave the invocation.

Due to the absence of the Secretary, Lion Roxanne Hall, there were no minutes to approve. They will be read at the next meeting.

Lion Gary Malone gave the treasurers report, followed by several members reporting on the successful "Care and Share" program headed by the local Wellsville Lions Club. Once again, it was a huge success, thanks to the generosity of the entire Community working together to help others. Lion Steve Bobalik chaired the entire Toy Project himself. Over 260 children benefited with special gifts. Food Baskets were given to 205 families, chaired by Lion Diane Miller. All members participated in this yearly endeavor, along with the assistance of Leo Club members. Also giving a helping hand were businesses and churches and other individuals who contributed with donations. Thanks to all for your support.

Sight Chairman, Lion Doris Musselman reported 2 new glass cases that the Club voted to cover.

The Wellsville Lions Club will be hosting the next Zone 9 Meeting which will be held on Feb. 28th. The time and place will be given at the next meeting.

A letter was received by the President, Lion Bob, announcing the 47th Annual District Convention, which will be held on March 15, 16, 17, 2013 at the McKinley Grand Hotel in Canton. Reservations will be due by March 1, 2013. The guest speaker will be International Director Joe Al Picone from Brenham, Texas.

The Club discussed the annual Rose Sale. No specific date was set yet for this project.

The motion to adjourn was made by Lion Randy Dillard and seconded by Lion Bob Palmer.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the Wellsville Roadhouse.

Tops Ohio 1341

EAST LIVERPOOL - Tops Ohio 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church on Jan. 21st with leader Judy McComas presiding. Sis Meredith was best loser and Dee Mattern, the runner up. Winners of the weekly drawings were weight loss and calorie chart, Meredith and junk food, Mattern. Meredith, 50-50. Three times in the losers book were Barb Kalinowski, Margaret Higgins and Pat Allison. Sally Nicholson was recognized for 64 weeks attendance. Janice Hutchin holds the travel box. Barb Hill presented the program on 7 tips for successful weight loss, exercise and fitness and belly fat. She gave out several low calorie snack foods in a drawing. The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer.
