EAST LIVERPOOL - John Ralph Twyford, 65, of West 6th Street, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Lifeline Hospital in Wintersville, following a lengthy illness.
A lifetime area resident, he was born Dec. 14, 1947, in East Liverpool, a son of the late Ralph J and June H. Twyford.
He graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1965, having played football and was on the wrestling team.

A proud veteran of the US Army, he had served in Viet Nam in 1968 and was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal.
An employee at the former Ferro Porcelain Corporation in East End, he also served at various times as president and vice-president of Union Local 274 of the G.M.P. International Union and was a member of the shop committee.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca J. Twyford and her fiance, Jerry Moore of East Liverpool and their daughter Krystalynn; a son, John E. Twyford of Morgantown, W.Va., and his children Johnathan , Ethan, Sophia and Jasmine.
A brother, James C. Twyford of South Carolina, also survives.
Services are planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Norm Eckert officiating. Friends may visit Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group.
