WELLSVILLE - Wellsville Police are investigating the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver just before 9 p.m., on Thursday evening in the village.

A police report states that an employee of Papa John's Pizza in East Liverpool was delivering pizzas in the 1800 block of Nevada Street when a masked black male approximately 5-foot, 8-inches tall robbed him at gunpoint.

The employee told police that he had received a delivery call to 1807 Nevada St., an address that does not exist, when he stopped and exited his vehicle in an effort to find it on foot. He was struck in the back of the head by the masked assailant with a semi-automatic pistol. The driver said the assailant then placed the pistol to his head and demanded all his money.

The driver said he complied, handing over between $200 and $300 in cash to the suspect, who then fled on foot south down Nevada Street.

Police Chief Joe Scarabino says that officers have obtained information from residents in the neighborhood and are following up on possible leads.
