EAST LIVERPOOL - Sarah G. Loy, 86, passed away at her home on Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road in East Liverpool at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, with her loving family at her side.
She was born in New Cumberland on Aug. 23, 1926, a daughter of the late Ross and Ethel Brewer Roe.
On June 3, 1943, she married Delbert C. Loy, and they raised their family in this area, where she remained for the rest of her life. Delbert preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1984. Sarah was a devoted homemaker and loved caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, collecting stuffed bears, and playing cards with her family.

She will be missed by her children and their families: daughter Deanna Powers and her husband, Robert, of Johnston Township, Ohio; and sons: Edward Loy, William Loy and his wife, Carol, James Loy and his wife, Debra, and Thomas A. Loy, all of Calcutta. There are nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as a brother, Raymond Roe, of East Liverpool.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Sarah was preceded in death by two grandchildren and three brothers.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Dr. William Wagner of the Pleasant Heights Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Mill Creek Cemetery.
