Southern 48, American Spirit Academy 11

SALINEVILLE - The Indians picked up their first win of the season on Monday, 48-11, over the visiting Warriors.

Southern Local (1-1) jumped out to a 19-2 lead after one quarter of play. American Spirit Academy held even with the Indians in the second frame, but failed to score any points in the third quarter.

Southern?Local attempted 68 field goals to just 22 for ASA.

The Indians had 10 different players score on the night led by Kati Hipsley with 11 points. Hipsley also added five steals and three assists.

Rachel Coil netted 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Brittany Weber finished with seven points and eight rebounds.

For the Warriors, Susan Blystone led with three points.

The Indians return to action Thursday at McDonald.

Lisbon 39, Leetonia 29

LISBON - A strong second half pushed the Blue Devils past the Bears, 39-29, on Monday.

Lisbon jumped out to an early 11-4 lead after one quarter of play, but Leetonia closed the gap to just three points at the half.

The Blue Devils went on a 21-14 run in the second half to secure the victory.

Pam Pierce paced Lisbon with a game-high 17 points and added 15 rebounds.

Katy Crismon finished with eight points, while Jenna Dickson added two points and four assists.

Tiffany Ketchum netted eight points and three steals.

Kinzie Smith led Leetonia with eight points.

In reserve action, Lisbon won, 32-31.

Hannah Prasco paced the Blue Devils with 11 points.

Lisbon will host rival United on Thursday.
