It's that time of year again when holiday celebrations are held throughout our communities.
Today, Chester kicks things off with its annual Hometown Christmas celebration. It's more than a parade, though, as the city holds events throughout the day.
We encourage everyone - on both sides of the river - to take part.
The day begins with craft shows at both the Lynn Memorial Library and the American Legion. Both start at 9 a.m. The library event runs until 3 p.m. and the legion until 4.
The Chester Volunteer Fire Department is site of the annual chili cook off, which runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to appear 10 a.m. to noon at City Hall. Kids get a chance to play bingo noon to 1 p.m. at the Burge Casto VFW.
And the parade caps off the day, starting at 2 p.m., along Carolina Avenue.
It appears to be another beautiful day on tap as temperatures are predicted to reach into the high 50s. The forecast also calls for mostly sunny skies.
Sounds like a recipe for family fun.
