EAST LIVERPOOL - Alan Dingey first game as head coach of the East Liverpool girls' basketball team did not go as he had hoped.

Lisbon jumped out to an early lead, and Pam Pierce recorded a game-high 31 points to lead the Blue Devils to a 56-47 victory over the Potters in the two team's season opener Friday night at Potter Fieldhouse.

Also for the Blue Devils (1-0), Tiffany Ketchum contributed 12 points, Katie Crismon netted seven points and Paige Bennett tallied four points.

Finally, Jenna Dickson finished with two points.

Nikayla Edgell collected a team-high 29 points to lead the way for the Potters (0-1). Edgell delivered four 3-pointers in the game.

Also for East Liverpool, Sarah Morrell tallied five points, Candace Holmes and Kiara Cowart each contributed four points and Linsey Rose recorded three points.

Finally, Chelsea Possage scored two points.

The biggest difference in the game came at the free-throw line. Lisbon converted 23 of 36 shots from the charity stripe, while East Liverpool finished 6 of 12.

"The foul line was the biggest difference," Dingey said. "They hit their foul shots. We fouled too much. We have got to work on our defense and to stop fouling.

"Our shots weren't falling tonight."

East Liverpool won the JV game, 36-33.

For the Potters (1-0), Ronnie Bailey netted a team-high 12 points.

Hannah Prasco produced a game-high 15 points to lead the way for the Blue Devils.
