Potter Prime Time being held tonight

EAST LIVERPOOL - The annual Potter Prime Time basketball event is tonight at Potter Fieldhouse. The 2012-13 East Liverpool basketball teams and coaches - grades 7-12 boys and girls - will be introduced to fans. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. Kat Ammon, an ELHS graduate and former Potter standout, will perform the national anthem at 6. The night also includes the cheerleaders, the pep band and the return of the alumni game. There will be several door prizes and raffle items awarded throughout the night as well. The alumni game roster includes five High-Y winners, members of 1999 Final Four team, All-State players, and scoring leaders. Those participating include Shaun Reed (class of 1978), Jim Mackey (1985), Larry Long Jr. (1987), Scott Rogers (1988), Eric Rogers (1992), Anson Wiegand (1995), Dave Hill (1995), Josh Martin (1996), Mike Bosco (1996), Eric Martin (1997), Mike Cook (1997), Brandon Reed (1999), Rob Green (2000), James Dickey (2001), Mike Robinson (2002), Josh Reed (2003), Jason Irving (2003), Zack Kinsey (2006), Joey Wines (2007), Tony Metsch (2007), Matt Phillips (2007), and Jason Bahen (2009).

Potter basketball season tickets on sale

EAST LIVERPOOL - The final day to purchase season tickets for the East Liverpool boys' basketball team is at 5 p.m. today. The cost of the tickets is $35.

Glenn Mitchell wins 2nd straight bout

YOUNGSTOWN - Board's Boxing was represented by Big Red graduate Glenn Mitchell who won his second consecutive amateur boxing match on Nov. 17 in Youngstown during the 24th annual Thanksgiving event put on by trainer Jack Loew. Mitchell, 21, defeated Brian Robinson, of Columbus, by unanimous decision in a 138-pound bout. Mitchell moved up from 132 pounds to take the fight. Another Steubenville graduate, Angelo Magnone, will be fighting under Board's Boxing on the Dec. 1 Mountaineer fight card. Magnone, who was a Div. III player of the year in football for Big Red, is 3-0 as an amateur and will be the first fight of the MTR event.

Team Mojo dodgeball tournament to be held

EAST LIVERPOOL - Team Mojo Foundation will hold Black Friday Dodgeball, a single elimination tournament, at 4 p.m. Friday. The tournament is being hosted by the Downtown East Liverpool YMCA. The cost is $25. The tournament is limited to 20 teams, ages 12 and up. Details and registration forms are available online at teammojofoundation.org or from the Downtown YMCA or the Calcutta YMCA.

BLHS Athletic Hall of Fame nominations

CALCUTTA - The BLHS Athletic Hall of Fame is currently accepting nominations. Forms can be obtained at www.beaver.k12.oh.us/blhof/hall-fame.html or at the high school office.

SL Meet the Indians event to be Nov. 28

SALINEVILLE - Meet the Indians will be held Nov 28 at 6 p.m. in the high school gym followed by the mandatory state preseason parent meeting. The following winter passes will be available for purchase following the meeting: adult girls basketball $45; adult boys basketball $45; student pass $20; athlete pass $10; high school family $125; junior/senior high family $170; junior high $15; Senior Citizen passes for those living in the district are available at the superintendent's office.
