Canned food drive benefits local charity

November 18, 2012
The Review

CHESTER - Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort, with the help of patrons, donated more than 1,175 cans to the Salvation Army during two canned food drives in November.

"Mountaineer Casino is happy to be able to assist the Salvation Army during the holiday season," Chris Kern, general manager said. "We are honored to be able to work together with a local charity and our patrons to provide food for needy families who may be having a tough time putting dinner on the table."

Mountaineer guests were asked to bring five canned goods for the Thanks For Giving Slot Tournament on Nov. 1-2 and the Canned Goods Drive on Nov. 15. The Salvation Army of Weirton received the donated food items from both events.

In addition to the canned goods, the resort has also donated more than 500 toys to the Tri- State Marine Corps Club for the Toys for Tots campaign through the generosity of guests.
