CHESTER - Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort's tradition of donating turkeys to the area's needy during the Thanksgiving holiday continued when nearly 800 turkeys were delivered to area social service organizations on November 16.
"Mountaineer Casino is happy to be able to assist local charities once again during the Thanksgiving season with this turkey donation," Chris Kern, general manager said. "The holidays can be especially tough for families, and these organizations will distribute the turkeys to families needing a little help putting Thanksgiving dinner on the table."
On Friday, Mountaineer sent a semi truck load of holiday turkeys to New Cumberland Social Services, the Salvation Army in Weirton, and the Bread Basket in Weirton. One day earlier, the Mountaineer Chaplaincy and the Community Resource Center of East Liverpool received turkeys.
The social service organizations determine those in the community who need help and coordinate the distribution to those who are eligible to receive the turkeys.
