ROUTE 30 ACCIDENT

November 14, 2012
The Review
Lawrenceville volunteer firefighters attend to an elderly woman whose pickup truck was hit by a tractor-trailer at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and state Route 8 on Tuesday morning. The pickup truck driver, Dolores Swain, of Bridgeport, Ohio, was flown by helicopter ambulance to UPMC in Pittsburgh, where she was listed in fair condition. Her passenger and sister, Doris Swain, of New Cumberland, was taken by Tri-County Ambulance to East Liverpool City Hospital. Witnesses said Swain was northbound on Route 8 and failed to stop for the stop sign at Route 30, said Hancock County sheriff’s Deputy Chad Lamp. She was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Allen B. Reed, of Georgetown, Pa., who was eastbound on Route 30. The truck belongs to J.R. Hall Excavating of Hookstown. (Photo by Stephen Huba)
