Brothers charged with arson after throwing flare from car

LISBON - Two New Waterford brothers are charged with arson, assault and two counts criminal damaging for their alleged activities on Wednesday.

Tyler J. Conkle, 22, and Alex J. Conkle, 18, both of Macklin Road, New Waterford, are accused of throwing a flare from a vehicle toward the Shear Perfection Hair Salon building, which caught the leaves on fire near the building. The leaves were later extinguished.

Additionally, they are accused of shooting a BB gun toward a mobile home residence of Eric Elliott, narrowly missing Elliott's head with one shot, when he went outside to confront them. They reportedly continued to shoot eventually shattering a window in the bedroom where Elliott's 2-year-old daughter was in bed.

Finally, the pair are accused of being responsible for two soda bottle bombs thrown at Elliott's home.

Pretrials were set on Friday in Columbiana County Municipal Court for Nov. 27.
