Thomas W. Byers Sr., 77
STRATTON-Thomas W. Byers Sr., 77, of Stratton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday Oct. 24, 2012 in the Acuity Specialty Hospital of Ohio in Steubenville, Ohio.
Tom was born Dec. 15, 1934 in Stratton, Ohio, son of the late George and Beulah Burns Byers.
Tom was retired from Ironworkers Local #549 in Wheeling, W.Va.; he was Protestant by faith and was a member of the Toronto American Legion Post # 86. Tom served his country in the US Marines during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents Tom was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Coulter and Beverly Vinburg; three brothers, George "Bud", Jack "Annie" and Dean "Diz" Byers.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years Margaret "Marge" (Bodnar) Byers, whom he married on Oct. 19, 1957; two sons, Thomas W. (Tondra) Byers Jr. and John W. (Candice) Byers both of Toronto; his brother Dorhman "Doc" Byers of Stratton; six grandchildren, Brandon, Jenna, Dustin, Jonathan and Andrea Byers and Nathan (Moriah) Hughes.
Visitation will be held on Friday Oct. 26, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 701 Findley St. Toronto, Ohio where Services will be held on Sat. at 11 a.m. Rev. Al Talkington will provide the service for Tom and burial will be at the convenience of his family in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Military Honors Service will be held following his Funeral Service by the Toronto American Legion Post # 86.
