Two people were charged Monday night for disturbances enumerated after police were called to a Wilbert Avenue apartment for a noise complaint. Chief John Lane responded and reported he knocked on the door but was ignored, and the radio was turned up. He beat on the door repeatedly with his fist and still was ignored so began kicking the bottom of the door. After what he described as a "long annoying time," the door was opened by Richard A. Jones, 24, who was told to turn down the radio. Ashley S. Parson, 27, was lying on the couch and said she was babysitting, according to reports, which also indicated she called Lane a profane name. Both were cited due to being the only adults in the residence with numerous children between the ages of 3 and 16.
While attempting to park her vehicle on Fourth Street Monday, Lindsey M. Stewart, 18, reportedly pushed on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, striking a retaining wall in the PNC Bank parking lot.
A vehicle driven by Lisa K. McCourt, 37, Sixteen School Road, Irondale, was reportedly struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Sandra E. Long, 10th Street Extension, Wellsville, while both were merging into traffic from the state Route 11 entrance to West Eighth Street. According to police, McCourt slowed, as did Long, then Long accelerated before McCourt could move her vehicle.
