Margaret "Sissy" Myers Barnes Penny, 91
EAST LIVERPOOL - Former Alpha Street resident Margaret "Sissy" Myers Barnes Penny, passed away at 1:36 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at the Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, following a lengthy illness. She was 91.
Born in East Liverpool on June 25, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Vaught and Bessie Myers. A lifetime area resident, she was a 1940 graduate of East Liverpool High School and later became involved in the ELHS Alumni Association and its Olde Guard.

She had been associated with the W.C. Bunting Company as a packer for 18 years, retiring in 1984.
A longtime member of Grace Baptist Temple in East Liverpool, "Sissy" had also belonged to the Jolly 60's, Campground Seniors and the Older Americans at the Salvation Army.
Her first husband, William Barnes, preceded her in death in 1977. She later married George F. Penny, who passed away in 1993.
One daughter and two sons survive: Kathleen Averell of Pepper Pike, Ohio, Larry A. Barnes of East Liverpool and William R. Barnes, of Fairview Heights, Ill. Sissy also leaves behind a stepdaughter, Cindie Virden and her husband, Dale, of Gardiner, Maine, along with three grandchildren, one step-grandchild and five great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Lee J. Myers and John R. Myers, also preceded "Sissy" in death.
Private family services will be held at the Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Gaylord Cox of the church officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.
