October 11, 2012
The Review

STEUBENVILLE - Jim Hayes, 65, life time area resident, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North at Trinity East Hospital in Steubenville.

A son of the late Esther Hutton Reed and Ira Hayes, Jim was born on June 23, 1947, in East Liverpool.

A graduate of the former Chester High School, he retired from Weirton Steel in 1984. More recently Jim had worked at various car dealerships throughout the area before landing at what he felt was the best dealership there is, C. Hackett Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep in Newell where he worked until earlier this year.

Also and most importantly, Jim was as crazy a Pittsburgh Steeler fan as you will ever find.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Reynolds; and his stepfather whom he was raised by, Ray Reed.

Surviving is one daughter, Kelly Anne Marie Leach and her husband David of East Liverpool; one sister, Sondra Allison of Hookstown; his brother-in-law Jack Reynolds of East Liverpool; and his stepson and good friend of Pittsburgh, Billy Marx; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Also Jim had several special friends that he would like to mention, the person that he said that he couldn't have made it as long as he did without, Tricia Broadbent, Chuck Hackett whom he shared an invaluable and indescribable friendship, Mecca Bowen who thought of Jim as her second father, Sharon Smith, Missy Sparks, Sophie and Finley Sparks, Nick and Ben Callen, and finally, Mickey Gerace, formerly of East Liverpool, whom Jim said was his truest love for over 40 years and he was too stupid to realize it.

His family and friends will gather to celebrate his life on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. At the conclusion of the visitation a continued time of remembrance will be held at the Chester VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tony Termana Cancer Center at 4000 Johnson Rd. Steubenville, OH. 43952. And finally straight from Jim's mouth, "thanks to all and go Steelers."
