John S. Smith, 72
NEW CUMBERLAND - John S. Smith, 72, of New Cumberland, W.Va., passed away, Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012.
He was born April 25, 1940, in Newell, W.Va., a son of the late John and Mildred (Anderson) Smith.
John was a certified welder. He was employed at the former Airco Wire Plant and was a former Machinist at Marsh Bellofram. He was also the former owner and operator of the Newell Bargain Center.
He was an avid fan of antique cars and he enjoyed the local car shows.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin L. Smith; a grandson, Nathan Dunn and his first wife, Sandy Smith.
He is survived by his second wife, Karen Smith of New Cumberland; two sons, Bobby (Dawn) Smith of Newell and John (Lisa) Smith of New Cumberland; two daughters, Brenda (Ernie) Revils of Texas and Valerie Smith and (Phil Lyons) of Chester; six grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, Vanessa, Nicole, Ethan, and Brandon; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Matt, Haven ,and Allen; three step-children, Melissa Manley, William Manley and Brad Manley all of Michigan and also by his canine "Crissy".
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, W.Va., where funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 11 a.m.. Burial will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell, W.Va.
