EAST LIVERPOOL - Allan R. Smith, 86, of Boring Lane, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at 9:21 a.m. at his residence following a brief illness.
Born April 24, 1926, at East Liverpool, he was a son of the late Willard and Mayme Smith. A lifetime area resident, he retired in 1983 after 33 years of service to the former Crucible Steel Company in Midland, as a supervisor over time and payroll.
A veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII, he graduated from Robert Morris College in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was also a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1944 and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 374.
His wife, Mary Emma Carland Smith, whom he married Oct. 19, 1951, survives at home. He also leaves behind two sons, Mark Smith and his wife, Tamera of Chester, and Kurt Smith of East Liverpool.
There are three grandchildren, Michael J. Smith and his wife, Jessica of Newell, Erin Smith of Chrisney, Ind., and Mark Dakon Smith of Chester; as well as four great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Krista Smith and Laura and Justin Branum.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith J. Smith and Gene H. Smith.
Friends may visit the family on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool. Pastor Norm Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a service on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord full military honors.
