Calcutta Lions
CALCUTTA - The Calcutta Lions Club met Sept. 9, 2012 for their regularly scheduled meeting. King Lion Wayne Christen called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. The pledge of allegiance was said by all. Invocation led by Lion Paul Metrovich. Dinner provided by Lions Bob Kidd and Gary Freeh.
Tail twister Lion Joe Hall provided the club with trivia on events that happened on Sept. 11, before 2001.
Lion Sharon Hall handed out minutes to the Aug. 28th meeting. Lion Janet Christen motioned to accept and Lion Joe Hall seconded the motion. Report was accepted.
Old business: Lion Janet Christen reported that we did very well with the hot dog sale at Giant Eagle. She asked members to consider doing a two day sale next year.
Lion Jerry Barnes reported that the Back to School Bash was a success, handing out 100 bags in one hour.
Under new business, Lion Wayne Christen moved that, effective Oct. 1, 2012, Calcutta Lions Club resume using a Board of Directors, as per Article VIII of the standard Ohio Lions Club Constitution. Said Board will consist of 11 members. Meetings of the Board of Directors will be held at 6:30 p.m. the first Tuesday, beginning Oct. 2, 2012. Lion Jerry Barnes made the motion and Lion Linda Metrovich seconded the motion. Motion was passed.
Lion Linda Metrovich stated we will be selling Steelers tickets at K-mart on Sept. 15 and 29. She sent around a sign-up sheet for volunteers to help sell tickets on these days. She also reminded members of the Flu Shot Clinic that will be held from 8-10 a.m. Sept. 17 at the Calcutta YMCA.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25. Meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.

NEWELL - TOPS No. 0115 met on Oct. 2nd at the Newell American Legion, with six members weighing in. Co-Leader called the meeting to order with the TOPS and KOPS pledge, she also had the roll call, and Assistant Weight recorder Shirley Grimes had the weight report, the weekly best loser was Mary Lou Kincaid and runner up was Jean Carpenter. Secretary Glenda Pope read the minutes from the last meeting. Treasure Mary Lou Kincaid gave the treasures report. The weekly quarters were won by Shirley Grimes and the dimes were won by Glenda Pope. Jean Carpenter had the program , Drink More Water. The No No Food for the week is Chocolate. TOPS stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly. The club meets every Tuesday at the Newell American Legion, weigh in starts at 4:30p.m. and the meeting starts 5:00 p.m. For more information call Arlene at 304-564-7071 or Jean at 724-573-9362.

EAST LIVERPOOL - Tops Ohio 1341 met Oct. 1 at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church. Leader, Nancy Kelly, opened the meeting by leading the club in the pledges and Dorothy Garn read a poem written by Kelly. Sue Van Sickle was best loser and Betty James the runner up. The monthly best losers for Sept. were announced, they were Barb Kalinowski and James was runner up. Garn won the monthly calorie chart drawing. Winners of the weekly drawings were, weight loss, Margaret Jackman; calorie chart, Sis Meredith; junk food, Pat Allison; jackpot, James and 50-50, Barb Hill. The treasurer's and secretary's reports were read and approved. Allison was 3 times in the losers book. James and Darla Varney hold the travel boxes. Sally Rudibaugh received a prize for returning from vacation without a gain. A program was held on helpful household hints. The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer.
