James "Turk" Burch, 86
NEWELL-James "Turk" Burch, 86, of Newell, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012.
Born June 14, 1926 in Congo, W.Va., a son of the late Carl and Pearl (Adams) Burch.
Turk served in the United States Army, during World War II; He was a 1944 graduate of Wells High School and he retired in 1984 as a Mine Supervisor from Globe Refractories. He was a past member of the Newell American Legion Post 114.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth McMullen Burch and a brother, Robert Burch.
Surviving are his daughter, Sherrie (Vince) McGeehan of Ohio; a son, Carl R. Burch of Newell; three grandchildren, Erin Porter, Sheena (Kyle) Custer, Conor (Maria) McGeehan; one great-grandson, Zac Porter; two sisters, Grace Rice of Newell and Elsie Green of Newell.
Graveside services will be held at the Columbiana County Memorial Park Chapel in East Liverpool, Ohio, on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. Minister Dennis Arnold will be officiating.
The Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, W.Va, handled arrangements.
