John Reckner
CHESTER, W.Va. - John W. Reckner, 65 of Chester passed away at his home on Monday, Sept. 24.
His parents were the late William J. and Jimmie Lee Gilkinson Reckner and he was born in East Liverpool on February 20, 1947.
A proud veteran, John enlisted with the US Marines Corps in 1965 and did two tours of duty in Vietnam, serving as a Sargent.
He was a Methodist by faith, and graduated from South Side High School in 1965.
He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Standard Lafarge in Georgetown.
Two sisters, Wanda Gailey and Shirley Fletcher preceded him in death.
Surviving is one daughter, two sons, one brother, and two sisters, seven grandchildren survive as well.
Pastor Willard Chuck Adkins will conduct services on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m and on Saturday one hour prior to the services. On Saturday, interment will follow the services at the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Georgetown where John will be honored for service to country by the honor guard of the US Marine Corps and the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group.
