Marianne Thomsen Gregory, 97

EAST LIVERPOOL - Marianne Thomsen Gregory, 97, of Old Fredericktown Road, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 12:45 a.m. at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Born March 23, 1915, at Friedridan bau', Germany, she was a daughter of the late Hans and Catharina England Thomsen. A homemaker, she moved to the United States following WWII when she married her late husband, Theodore A. Gregory, who died March 24, 1999. The couple was married Nov. 27, 1948.

She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in East Liverpool. When she was a child, while attending a parade, she was acknowledged and shook hands with Adolph Hitler.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. She leaves behind two nephews, Hans Solterbeck of Ravenna, Ohio, and Erich Solterbeck of East Liverpool. There is also three great-nieces, Kathy Solterbeck, Monica Savage, and Maria Broderick; and one great-nephew, Mike Solterbeck.

Friends may visit the family Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in East Liverpool. The Rev. Eric Edwards of the church will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather at the church immediately following the service.

The family would like to recognize and thank all of Marianne's caregivers, who were so wonderful and loving throughout the last eight years.
