EL Area Seniors

EAST LIVERPOOL - On Sept. 20, a meeting of the East Liverpool Area Seniors was held with 31 members present. President Ruth Wynn brought the meeting to order by calling on Gail Grimm for scripture reading, and The Lord's Prayer, Pledge Of Allegiance and the singing of America followed.

The meeting continued with the roll call of officers and the minutes of the last meeting by Secretary Jo Ann Fickes. Treasurer Gail Grimm made her weekly report and advised three bills were paid and three new bills have been submitted. First motion to pay bills was made by June Mullen and it was seconded by Harriet Slagle.

Club Supervisor, Harriet Slagle, reminded everyone to attend our last card party of the year. The card party has been rescheduled from Oct. 8. till Oct. 15. Prizes, food and games. Trustees the Valentines will be our hosts.

We welcomed Mary Lou Arcuragi as a first time guest. A beautiful bouquet of chartreuse and white flowers was won by Margaret Brown and she was also celebrating her 29 year wedding anniversary. We appreciate the weekly bouquets from Clendenning Florists. The lucky recipient of the 50/50 was Jean Bookman.

Drawing the meeting to a close ,Grimm read a story by Edgar Guest. It was followed with a story about how special grandmas are . Our last President Jean Tomlison read a story about the very many uses of the apron.

President Ruth Wynn read a story about a person being falsely accused.

The next meeting will be Sept. 27. Motion to close was made by Margaret Brown and Jean Tomlison. The meeting closed with The Evening Prayer, and the closing prayer was made by Gail Grimm.

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Sept. 18, meeting of 30+30 convened at St. Aloysius School at 1 p.m. as it does every Tuesday. We are in need of new members and would gladly welcome anyone who wishes to join us. Our meeting consists of a business portion, jokes or stories told by members, and lunch followed by cards or bingo.

There will be a new participant, Dee Sullivan, who has been a guest for two weeks, become a member on Oct. 2.

Fran Rawson read scripture to open the meeting and Pres. Thelma Hupp continued by leading the Lord's Prayer, the pledge of Allegiance, and one verse of America. Secretary, Jo Jordan, gave the roll call of officers and the minutes of the previous meeting. Treasurer, Jean Tomlison, gave the treasurer's report and both were approved.

Pres. Hupp read the prayer list for the sick and said the prayer for all on the list. Jordan won the 50/50 drawing and Happy Birthday was sung to Mary King.

The usual closing of the business meeting was held which is singing The Evening Prayer, and saying the Hail Mary and table blessing.

Lunch and games followed.
