Columbiana County Sheriff Reports for 9-20

A 16-year-old girl called deputies from the neighbors at 9:23 p.m. Monday to get help for her mother, who was reportedly slammed against the doorway and refrigerator and dragged across the floor and stairs during a fight with her husband. He reportedly also tried to stop the teen from calling for help by taking the phone from her before she escaped to the neighbor's. Roy Richards Jr., 51, Homeworth Road, Alliance, was charged with domestic violence.

Mary Hawkins, Lake Milton, reported at 1:41 a.m. Tuesday a domestic at a Parkview Drive, Lisbon home. Deputies found a couple, who both claimed to have only had an argument and no signs of violence.

Christine Ensell, Dyke Road, Rogers, reported at 5:30 p.m. Monday someone stole a three-wheel ATV from in front of the shed in the yard.

Jim Smith, Applegate Road, reported at 7:50 p.m. Monday a cow was running loose. He chased it from the cornfield before deputies arrived. The cow was owned by a neighbor and deputies went to talk to the owner so he would know it was loose.

Larry Vincent, Opal Drive, Wellsville, reported at 5:43 p.m. Monday he came home and found his door kicked in. A coffee can full of about $600 in quarters was missing.

A private property crash at Harstine Meats, state Route 154 and Fairfield School Road, was reported at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday. The crash was between vehicles driven by Linda Lou Johnson, Morris Road, Lisbon, and Robert W. Petrus, Boardman. Each gave a different account of what occurred, claiming the other was responsible.

James Hartshorne, Canal Street, East Rochester, reported at 7:32 a.m. Wednesday a neighbor had been letting her dog out often and it comes to his property acting aggressive toward his family and animals. On Wednesday it reportedly showed its teeth toward his girlfriend.

Kayli Stiffler, Charelton Street, Hanoverton, reported at 5:23 p.m. Tuesday her neighbor had taken her cat and refused to return it. The neighbor claimed she had been taking care of the cat since 2010 and had veterinary records for the cat. She said she took the cat in after she found it had kittens. The neighbor agreed to talk to Stiffler about the cat.

Shirley Pifer, Westville Lake Road, Beloit, reported at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday a past tenant has been returning to a Rochester Road home and digging up the flowers.

A suspicious man wearing a ski mask and vest was reported walking in the area of Roller Coaster Road near the Robin Hood statue looking at houses at 9:53 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies checked the area, but did not find anyone about.

Scott Craig, North Lincoln Avenue, Alliance, reported at 10:19 p.m. Tuesday he was assaulted by his brother, Albert, on the corner of state Routes 9 and 172. Both Craig and his brother were extremely intoxicated. Craig said the fight occurred because he wanted to go home and his brother would not let his girlfriend give him a ride to Alliance. The brother claimed they fought after Craig made a comment about him not seeing his children. Neither wanted to press charges and a ride was found for Craig.

George Garret, Metz Road, Columbiana, reported at 4:03 p.m. Tuesday he was backing out of Ace Hardware onto state Route 7 and accidentally struck a vehicle driven by Walter Thompson, state Route 154, Lisbon. Thompson concurred.

Candace Desanzo, Lotze Road, East Palestine, reported shots being fired near her home at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies spoke with the property owner, who said no one has permission to shoot on the property.

Cody Adams, U.S. Route 30, Minerva, reported at 7:50 p.m. Monday a past friend of his was messing around with his girlfriend and they had a falling out. The past friend was now reportedly threatening him on Facebook. Deputies spoke to the friend, who claimed it was Adams starting trouble on Facebook. Both were told to leave each other alone.

Joan Hinline, state Route 7, New Waterford, owner of the Terrace Lake Campgrounds reported at 6:33 p.m. Monday sometime in the past week stole about 60 metal fire rings from the campground.

Michele Baker, Richardson Avenue, Negley, reported at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday she had contacted a man by email who had a concession trailer on Craig's List. She was instructed to send a money order for $6,056 to Indiana. She did not receive the trailer and has been unable to contact the seller.

Lisa McKee, DeSellum Drive, Lisbon, reported at 7:56 p.m. Tuesday her neighbor's young bull got out of its enclosure and ate her garden, made a mess of her chicken area and was becoming aggressive toward her. Deputies spoke to the owner, who said he just purchased materials for the fence and would make things right with his neighbor.

A domestic dispute was reported on Mohican Trail, Negley, at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday. A man and his 17-year-old stepson reportedly had a confrontation after the stepfather found evidence on the boy's phone showing he had been involved in a drug sale. While disciplining him, the teen was sitting in a lawn chair, which the stepfather pushed and it began to tip down the porch steps. Deputies gave the man some additional ideas about disciplining his stepson.

Ruth Berresford, Second Street, Hanoverton, reported at 12:19 p.m. Tuesday sometime overnight someone entered her vehicle, took spare change and a video camera. She also reported an ongoing problem with neighbors messing with her property.
