EL Area Seniors
EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool Area Seniors met at 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at St. Stephens Church. Due to the absence of our President Ruth Wynn, our first Vice President, June Mullen presided. Mullen called on Margaret Brown for scripture reading and Gail Grimm led us in reciting The Lord's Prayer, salute to the flag and the singing of America.
The meeting continued with the roll call of officers and the minutes of the Sept 6 meeting by Secretary Jo Ann Fickes. Treasurer Gail Grimm read her weekly report and informed us 2 bills were just paid and two new bills have been submitted this week. Motion to pay bills was made by Harriet Slagle and Minnie Zubay.
Club Supervisor Harriet Slagle announced the last card party of the year will be at noon Oct 8. Our Trustees Vi and Dale Valentine will be the host. Slagle reminded us we must sign up for the Thanksgiving dinner. We would like to thank Slagle for arranging all the arrangements she has made all year. We would also like to thank all the people who carried lunches for everyone.
Cards and prayers are being sent out to Sandy and Lester Brock for a recent illness.
Hospitality Chairman Betty Davis informed us 29 members and one guest attending today's meeting. We welcomed Kay Drago as a first time guest, and she will become a full time member after two more visits. A bouquet of soft white carnations and baby's breath was won by Charlie Mae Scott. The lucky recipient of the 50/50 was Lois Burris.
Bringing the meeting to a close some very funny jokes was told by Shirley Hayes and June Mullen. Motion to close was made by Thelma Hupp and Jean Tomlison. Grimm led us with the singing of The Evening Prayer and the closing prayer was made by Margaret Brown, who was also kind enough to deliver lunch today.
