8:06 a.m. - Rayford Lawrence reported that two tires of the tires on his red Pontiac Grand Am had been slashed while it was parked outside of his Main Street residence. He told police that his stepdaughter, who drives the car, has been having issues with a group of people recently.
Sept. 11
2:44 a.m. - Following a traffic stop for failure to stop at a stop sign on 15th Street at Commerce, police discovered the driver, Dennis D. White Jr. of East Liverpool, had a failure to appear warrant from Guernsey County for a marijuana possession charge. White was arrested on the warrant, cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and for driving under suspension, and transported to Columbiana County Jail.
4:06 a.m. - Officers were dispatched to 319 Riverside Ave. for an attempted break-in. Homeowner Michael Weaver told police he had been awakened by the sound of someone attempting to force open his front door. Officers noted damage to plastic trim surrounding the door. A search of the area located no one.
4:25 p.m. - Police were dispatched to King's Carry Out, corner of Main and Third streets, for a vehicle that had struck the building. There was no damage to the inside of the store and no injuries. Driver Ronald Brightwell, 50, 17212 McIntosh Road, Wellsville, told police that his foot had slipped off the clutch pedal, causing his truck to hit the store. Following a patdown of Brightwell, officers discovered a pill bottle containing a piece of straw with white powder residue on it, as well as a small piece of metal, possibly used for cutting pills. He was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
