Helen F. Conkle, 88

WARREN - Helen F. Conkle, 88, formerly of Y & O Road, Wellsville, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren.

Born in Boston, Pa., on Aug. 1, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Walker Thomas and Anna Marie Mains Thomas.

Spending most of her life in this area, Mrs. Conkle was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church and Deer Trails Country Club. She was employed as the ready-to-wear buyer at the former A.J. Olsen's and later at Zach's and J.C. Penney's until her retirement in 1967.

Preceding her death on March 3, 2011, was her husband, Arthur Benjamin "Bing" Conkle, whom she married on Jan. 12, 1946.

Surviving is one daughter, Carolyn A. Conkle, of Warren.

In addition, there is a sister, Betty Shaw Six, of East Liverpool; as well as two brothers, Leonard Thomas and his wife, Virginia, of VanPort, Pa., and Edwin Thomas and his wife, Mary, of Benson, Ariz.; along with a sister-in-law, Helen Marie Conkle of East Liverpool.

There are also eight nieces: Virginia Ferguson, Charlene Underwood, Terri Reese, Lori Thomas, Gayle Thomas, Diane Thomas, Cathy Thomas and Debbie Conkle; and 10 nephews also survive: Timothy Thomas, Robert Thomas, Scott Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Greg Thomas, Mark Thomas, Brian Thomas, John Ferguson, Gary Shaw and Jim Shaw.

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Elsie Mae Thomas Dapollonia, Dorothy June Thomas Ferguson; and two brothers, Robert Allen Thomas and Raymond A. Thomas.

Friends may call at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday where the family will be present from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, with Helen's nephew, the Rev. Timothy Thomas officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be served at the Dawson Family Center.

Burial will take place at Clarkson Cemetery.
