Chesapeake Exploration and Ohio Buckeye Energy LLC filed an appeal of a ruling from Aug. 13, granting the motion by Summitcrest, Inc. for partial summary judgment, denying Chesapeake's motion for partial summary judgment and denying Chesapeake's request for a judicial ascertainment. The notice was filed in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court and sent to the Seventh District Court of Appeals.

Luke A. Morris, 34, McKee Street, East Liverpool, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction in Common Pleas Court on Friday. He pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs and was placed on an intensive probation treatment plan for five years. Court documents state Morris on May 29, 2011 had more than 200 grams of marijuana but less than 1,000 grams, which was prepared for distribution.

Kasmond P. Parker, 25, Warren, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to complicity to trafficking in drugs. He was sentenced to an intensive probation treatment plan for five years. According to court documents Parker on Nov. 2 in Salem admitted to setting up a deal for crack cocaine between a woman and his accomplice.

Dena M. Bolin, 29, Water Street, Salineville, was sentenced Friday to five years of probation after pleading earlier to breaking and entering and theft. Court documents state Bolin was involved in trespassing at Ronald Riggles' property on West Water Street, Salineville, on Sept. 29, 2011 and taking numerous tools, a forklift, antique stove, lawn mowers, propane gas tanks and other items.

Sterling A. Kennedy, 36, Youngstown was sentenced in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Friday to 24 months in prison with credit for 220 days served and his license was suspended for a year. Kennedy had pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs, including one with a forfeiture specification. One of the charges was for crack cocaine and the other heroin, both in his possession on Sept. 17, 2010. Additionally he had in his possession $1,338, digital scales, a stun gun and a knife. A receiving stolen property charge was dismissed.

Brett Nolan, 23, Girard, was sentenced Friday to five years probation and classified as a Tier III sexual offender for sexual battery. Court documents noted Nolan has "some mental limitations."

Thomas C. Browning III, 29, St. George Street, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs. He faces up to 12 months in prison, a $2,500 fine and a six month license suspension. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 2. Browning reportedly had cocaine in the coin pocket of his pants on Aug. 12, 2011.
