Tops No. 0115

NEWELL - Tops No. 0115 met on Sept. 4 at the Newell American Legion with 11 members weighing in. The meeting was called to order by Leader Arlene Cool with the TOPS and KOPS pledge. Co-Leader Jean Carpenter had the role call and Assistant Weight Recorder Shirley Grimes gave the weight report. Weekly best loser was Zip Stafford with no runner up. Secretary Glenda Pope read the minutes from the Aug. 28 meeting. Treasure Mary Lou Kincaid gave the treasures report. The weekly quarters were won by Zip Stafford and the dimes were won by Mary Lou Kincaid. Arlene Cool had the program. The No-No Food for the week is ICE CREAM. The meeting closed with the Helping Hands Poem and the Lord's Prayer. TOPS stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly. EAST LIVERPOOL - TOPS 1390 met on Sept. 4 at the First Free Methodist church on St. Clair Avenue.

Best loser this week was Wanda Price with runner up Vesta Ferlaino.

Dimes, Linda Sirianni; food charts, Mildred Elliott; 50/50, Arlene Shuman $9; recognitions, three weeks was Ferlaino. Coming back with a lose was Sharon Wolfe $1. Check contest winner, Ferlaino; birthday, Florence Smith; special day. May Kinemond; monthly best loser, Sharron Wolfe, dues paid; monthly runner up, Robin Rice. Coming back, after a holiday, with a loss, were Marguerite Nedreberg, Wolfe, Ferlaino and Price.

New buddies for this month, Dela Goldsmith and Jonnie Carnes; Robin Rice and Carol Write; Anne McGee and Strianni; Ferlaino and Smith; Elliott and Wolfe; Marguerite Nedreburg and Wilma Selmon.

Contest winner was Sirianni.

The meeting was closed with the Lord's Prayer and sung good night song.

Breastfeeding Support Group

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Breastfeeding Support Group met Aug. 29 at Ivywood Spa & Wellness Center to celebrate Breastfeeding Awareness Month. The celebration consisted of several guest speakers and demonstrations, along with refreshments.

Ruth Ann Mullen, RN, MSN, IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) discussed nutrition for nursing mothers, as well as weight loss during nursing. Aimee George, yoga instructor at Ivywood, demonstrated "Mommy and Me" yoga in which mothers can tone and tighten their core muscles while interacting with their infants. Sharon Kay Palmer, Licensed Massage Therapist at Ivywood, demonstrated and discussed the benefits of infant massage.

The Breastfeeding Support Group is led by Liz Brown, IBCLC, CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor). The group meets at 6 p.m. the last Wednesday of each month at Ivywood Spa & Wellness Center, 49190 Calcutta Smith Ferry Road in Calcutta. The meetings are free and open to all nursing mothers and mothers-to-be who want to learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, ask questions, share stories, and meet other nursing moms. Tops No. 1957

WELLSVILLE Tops No. 1957 of Wellsville met Sept. 4 with leader Connie Hissam opening the meeting with pledges, roll call and prayer led by Dee Davis.

The Tops best loser was Erla Arbaugh, Kops best loser was Diane Carnegie and Lisa Ceneviva wore the officer's ribbon. Hissam and Ceneviva had no gains for three weeks and Karen Stull was the Tops best loser for the month of August.

Lisa Ceneviva reached her Kops goal and was given a charm and pin for her achievement. Good job Lisa!

Terry Coen reminded all members that the money and orders for the knife sale are due next Tuesday.

The no no's for the week are potato chips and ice cream.

The baseball contest is now over and Team one was the winner. Norma Rodgers and Gladys each received a pin for taking charge of the two teams. The gifts for the winning team were small trophies. The most valuable player was Tina Green.

The losing team had to bring in a recipe for a food or appetizer that was less than 300 calories and share with the winning team. A good time was had by all.

Connie closed the meeting with a circle and song.
