CHESTER - Hancock County Sheriff's Office and Chester Police are investigating a one-vehicle crash early Sunday that claimed the life of a 23-year-old Chester man.
Sgt. Chuck Stanley of Hancock County Sheriff's Office is the investigating officer. He said names of victims are being withheld until all family members are notified.
Stanley said the Hancock County 911 Dispatch Center received a call at 2:27 a.m. about a one-vehicle crash on Middle Run Road near the Route 208 intersection. Sheriff's deputies and a Chester Police officer arrived to find a Ford Ranger pickup had rolled over with four occupants.
The man killed was trapped in the front passenger seat. The driver, a 22-year-old Chester man, and two men who had been riding in the bed of the truck - a 22-year-old Chester man and a 23-year-old New Cumberland man -were transported to a hospital by ambulance.
The men in the bed of the truck were ejected, he said.
Stanley said speed was a factor and the driver said he lost control when he swerved to avoid striking a deer.
