Virginia Domella Amato, 88
MIDLAND -Virginia Domella Amato, 88 of Midland passed away Saturday afternoon, September 1, 2012 at the home of her daughter where she resided with her family at her side.
Born October 27, 1923 in Midland, she was a daughter of the late Pete and Mary Quinzio Domella and had been a resident all of her life. She was a 1941 graduate of Lincoln High School, Midland and a member of the St. Blaise Parish, Midland. She had once worked as a sales clerk for the former Keystone Shoes of Midland. Virginia was a devoted mother and grandmother. Along with her husband Jim, she adopted her daughter, Annette, from Sicily at the age of 3 and became the best mother any child could wish for. In years past, she enjoyed cooking pasta on Sundays for her family. She was also an avid sports fan, and loved to watch her beloved Steelers. She took pride in her appearance and her home, and found great joy in gardening. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her kindness, and for always thinking of others.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Vincent "Jimmy" Amato in 1994 and 3 sisters, Josephine "Jo" Ford, Elsie Matteo and Elvira Doyle.
Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Annette & Gabriel Reighard, Midland, a sister, Eda Masters, 2 grandchildren, Cassie (Valentine) Brkich, Beaver, Melissa Reighard, Midland, and three great grandchildren, Addison, Antonella and Isaac.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral home, 600 Beaver Ave, Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 am at St. Blaise Church by her pastor, Father Michael Yaksick. Private interment will follow at the Beaver Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Virginia's name to the St. Blaise Parish, 772 Ohio Ave., Midland, PA 15059.
