CALCUTTA - St. Clair Township Trustees have removed 48394 Bell School Road from the township's nuisance property list.
Trustee Jim Hall said this week that he spoke with property owners. They mowed the grass and everything in the front of the property was clean and orderly.
He said they are upset that their property was seen as a nuisance.
Hall said the property owners noted that although they do have some areas that need cleaned up, there are properties in the township in far worse condition. He said there is no need to proceed with a nuisance complaint since the owners are cleaning it up. He said part of the issue is complaints by one of the neighbors, and the neighbor and property owners need to work things out.
Trustee Robert Swickard said trustees don't need to be in the middle of a dispute between neighbors. The property does not pose a health, fire or safety hazard at this point, he said.
"The neighbors need to get their heads together and work out a solution," Hall said.
Trustees had been progressing through the proper steps to see the property is cleaned up.
They did an on-site inspection, discussed the property with neighbors, and at a recent meeting, they passed around photos.
