SALINEVILLE - Preparing for the start of the 2012-2013 school year, the Southern Local school board approved dates for kindergarten screening and a number of personnel changes.
At the regular meeting on June 12, the board approved a delay in the start of kindergarten classes, allowing three days for screening of kindergarten students. The screening days will be Aug. 27, 28 and 29.
The board also agreed to a three-year contract for Doreen Marshall as district treasurer, and a two-year contract for Dallas Saunders as associate principal at the high school.
At that same meeting the board granted Carol Vollnogle a one-year contract as assistant superintendent and school improvement coordinator, and approved Kristy Sampson as elementary physical education teacher. Last week, the board
accepted the resignation of Vollnogle as assistant superintendent and school improvement coordinator, effective June 30; and named Sampson, school improvement and federal programs coordinator.
The board approved Anthony Pastore, Jennifer Sailing, Julia Sailing, Ashley Tharp, Cassandra Nicholas and Amber Thompson as summer school tutors.
Also at the June 12 meeting, the board approved the following:
-Resignation of Elaine Oelker, 12 years of service to the district.
-Resignation of Randy Petrusovich, two years of service.
-Resignation of Melissa Kiehl, one year of service.
-Allow the treasurer to seek bids for purchase of a school bus.
-A one-year contract for Jim Ray as special education coordinator.
-Chris Blair as a freshman class adviser.
-Laura Sheets as a freshman class adviser.
-Kelly Leek as junior class adviser.
-Susan Lissi as sophomore class adviser.
-Jody Lockhart as a senior class adviser.
-Sharon Campbell as a senior class adviser.
-Jody Lockhart as yearbook adviser.
-Laurie Ronshak as Art Club adviser.
-Joy Nola as high school Student Council adviser.
-Shannon Rodgers as junior high Student Council adviser.
