Softball players receive honor

EAST LIVERPOOL - The honors continue to pile up for some local softball players.

A dozen local players were recently honored with spots on the Ohio Division II Eastern District Teams. Two players from Beaver Local, East Liverpool and Edison were named to the first team, and two Beavers, Potters and Wildcats were named to the second team.

For Beaver Local, Kim Rotellini and Destiny Vishak were named First Team All-Eastern District. For East Liverpool, Elise Smith and Brittany Clutter were named First Team All-Eastern District. For Edison, Trisha Trifonoff and Kristin Prokopakis were named First Team All-Eastern District.

For the Beavers, Deanna Dutch and Laine Frampton were named Second Team All-Eastern District. For the Potters, Alyssa Culp and Kelsey Diddle were named Second Team All-Eastern District. For the Wildcats, Kayla Prokopakis and Molly McCoy were named Second Team All-Eastern District.

Rotellini, Vishak, Smith, Trifonoff and Kayla Prokopakis all previously were honored by the OVAC with spots on the annual all-conference team.

Rotellini and Kayla Prokopakis were named First Team All-OVAC, while Vishak, Smith and Trifonoff were named Second Team All-OVAC.

Also, Rotellini, Trifonoff and Kayla Prokopakis and Kristin Prokopakis have been selected to play in the OVAC's annual all-star game. The all-star game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday down at the I-470 Complex in Wheeling. The game will be played Thursday if it is rained out on Wednesday.
