Thomas Brian Smith
WELLSVILLE - Thomas Brian Smith, 72, a lifelong resident of Wellsville, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Allegheny General Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1939, in Wellsville, one of 11 children of the late Clyde Cleo Smith, Sr. and the late Fay M. (Headley) Smith.

Tom was a 1958 graduate of Wellsville High School and was a member of the Third Street Gang. He was an avid sports fan and casino gambler. His favorite teams included the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Tom worked 10 years on the Newell Bridge, W.Va., where he loved giving lollipops to the children of those crossing. He retired from First Energy's WH Sammis Power Plant in Stratton, after 23 years, and was well respected as an auto body mechanic at the former Ideal Chevrolet, Wellsville, where he worked for 17 years.
Tom is survived by his wife, Janet L. "Precious" (Smolinsky) Smith, at home, whom he married December 1, 1961. They had 50 years of marital bliss together; one daughter, Penny Jo Burlingame and her husband Rick, of Youngstown; two sons, Brian Thomas Smith and Neil Alan Smith and his companion, Clair Russell, both of Wellsville; five grandchildren, Amy Burlingame, of Youngstown, Kevin Carr and his fiancee Emily Jean Hicks, of Ashland, Ky., Nathan Smith, of East Liverpool, Victor Smith, of Cleveland, and Bryce Smith, of Salineville; three sisters, all from Wellsville: Gypsy L. Winland, Sharon Halfhill and her husband Robert and Linda K. Welch and her husband Paul; five brothers: Clyde C. Smith, Jr. and his wife Fran, of Wellsville, Jack A. Smith and his wife Garnet, of Wellsville, Donald L. Smith and his wife Wilma, of Salineville, Larry K. Smith and his wife Sandy, of Wellsville, and Darrell B. Smith and his wife Vicki, also of Wellsville.
Many nieces and nephews also survive along with two special sisters-in-law: Betty Smith and Patty Smith DiCioccio, both of Wellsville.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary M. Smith and Glen A. Smith.
Per his request, no calling hours or service will be held.
Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, family and a host of many friends.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Roberts Funeral Home, Wellsville.
