LISBON - Columbiana County Fair Board Director Sharen Cope has announced the theme for this year's special category for the Arts & Crafts Department as "When the Call Comes."
It is intended to honor First Responders (police, fire, and EMTs) from the county.
Exhibitors in the quilting, knitting, and cross stitch categories will submit entries in the colors of red, white and blue, and they will be prominently displayed during the entire week of the fair, July 30 to Aug. 5.
On Sept. 9, a recognition ceremony will be held, at which time these entries will be presented to community First Responders who have been nominated by members of the county for these special awards. Cope has been working with Highlandtown Fire Chief Tim Roush to develop this category. Members of the Salem VFW and AmVets, along with the Fair Board, are sponsoring this ceremony.
Those wishing to nominate a member of any of the county departments to acknowledge a job well done, length of service, or above and beyond the call of duty, should send all necessary information (name, department, contact information and reason for nomination) to the attention of Sharen Cope at Fair Office, P.O. Box 356, Lisbon, Ohio.
Category requirements are available in the 2012 Premium Book or on the Fair website at columbianacountyfair.org.
