CALCUTTA - Walmart Fighting Hunger Together Campaign is pledging more than $2 billion in nutritious food, cash and equipment to fight against hunger.
As part of this commitment, Walmart is giving away $2 million to fight hunger in communities hardest hit by the economy. Facebook is helping determine what community should receive the top $1 million prize with a competition. Log onto Facebook and vote for the Youngstown-Warren Area, which is part of our local organizations.
The Youngstown-Warren Area houses the Youngstown Second Harvest Food Bank, and this food bank supplies the East Liverpool FISH Food Bank with $100 worth of non-perishable food for $15. Currently Youngstown-Warren is in third place.
While the winning community receives $1 million, other communities receive the runners up amount of $50,000.
